State police say 10 people, including three children, have died in a wildfire in eastern Pennsylvania. Her three children, aged 5, 6 and 7, died in the early morning fire in the northeastern town of Neskedek, police said.
The other victims were between the ages of 19 and 79. Three adults escaped the fire. The residence was completely destroyed by fire, and K9 units were deployed to help search for victims, he said. Pictures circulated in the US media show walls of charred two-story houses collapsing around the building engulfed in flames.
Firefighter Harold Baker of the Nasdaq Volunteer Fire Company was one of the first to rush to the scene. He was related to eight of the ten victims, ages 19 and 22, who lost a child, the New York Times reported.
I was trying to get in as quickly as possible, he told the newspaper, and his colleagues tried several times before they pulled him away. An investigation has been started to find out the cause of the fire.
