A bus with Polish license plates overturned on a highway in northern Poland, killing 12 people and injuring at least 30 others, officials said.
The accident happened around 5:40 a.m. local time when the bus turned off the A4 highway on its way to the provincial capital Zagreb.
Eleven people died (on the spot) and 32 were taken to hospitals in Varazdin, Zagreb and Kakovec. He said many passengers were “seriously injured”.
Bozinovic said the bus had planned to leave Poland’s capital Warsaw for a pilgrimage to Medjugorje, a popular Catholic pilgrimage site in southwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Tomo Medved offered condolences to Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and the families of the victims, Bozinovic said, adding that the cause of the crash was still under investigation.
