In the first eight hours of the inauguration of the Padma Bridge, the traffic has collected 72 lakh 19 thousand 50 rupees.
About 15,200 vehicles crossed the bridge on the first day of the inauguration of Super Design in the country
Abul Hossain, chief engineer of Bangladesh Bridge Authority, said this on Sunday evening.
The much-anticipated Padma Bridge was reopened to traffic at 5.40 am on Saturday (June 25) following a proper initiative by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
As the correspondence between Dhaka and the South is dependent on the administration of ships, the suffering of the people of the South has been alleviated in the intervening period after the inauguration of the Padma Bridge.
It took a few hours to cross the Padma River from the Jajira end. It takes just a few minutes to cross the mighty river with the recently built Padma Bridge.
People are crossing the Padma bridge in different vehicles including motorcycles and private cars.
Besides, trucks, buses and other vehicles are plying on the bridge in a few minutes.
