The UN mission in Afghanistan said Monday that an attack on a busy business sector in the eastern Nangarhar province had killed and injured scores of people, although Taliban authorities said they could confirm 10 were injured.
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said in a statement on its Twitter account that it had “condemned today’s attack on a crowded market in Nangarhar that killed and injured many people, including a number of children.”
Qurayshi Badlaun, the Taliban’s head of media and data for Nangarhar, confirmed the impact but said the motive was not clear.
