TE24 Life Style Desk:
The mid-life update for the BMW 3 Series will go on sale in Australia from October and will bring a range of improvements along with a significant price increase for the 2023 model year.
The price hike comes after a series of price hikes he wrote about in August this year, including the pre-LCI 3 series.
The latest BMW infotainment system is up front with subtle design updates, new lights, new screen and some extras.
But BMW’s entry-level 320i sedan costs $5,400 more than its 2022 model, and its lowest price is $78,900 excluding on-road fees.
The 320i in its current guise had a starting price of $64,900 when it was announced in June 2019. This means that the opening price has increased by about 22% in about three years. The 320i’s new launch game matches the starting price of its competitor, the Mercedes-Benz C200. This price also increased significantly with the launch of the new model earlier this year.
The mass-produced BMW 330i sedan and Touring are $10,100 more than the 2022 model, or $93,400 and $97,400 respectively before on-road costs.
The BMW 330e PHEV is $7,100 more than the MY22 model, which has a suggested retail price of $97,400. The situation is different for the top-end BMW M340i xDrive (except M3). BMW used to offer its M340i xDrive ‘Pure’ and its M340i xDrive with better equipment, but now only offers one variant.
Its latest M340i xDrive is $104,900, $1300 less than the older Pure Class and $8700 less than the complete MY22 M340i xDrive.
