Two or three hours of deluge prompted waterlogging in a few pieces of the port city on Saturday, making the existences of the occupants hopeless.
Occupied region of the city, including No 2 Gate, Bahaddarhat, Muradpur, Chawkbazar and Khatunganj, and a few low-lying regions like the Agrabad CDA neighborhood endured the worst part of the early morning downpours.
Post-showers, many individuals were seen swimming through lower leg profound water around there to arrive at their objective because of absence of public vehicle.
Yet again bothered inhabitants asserted the showers broke the tall cases of storm readiness by the community body.
Md Kamal, an inhabitant of the No 2 Gate region, said, “The showers started around 4am and following two or three hours, the Mayorgoli was overflowed because of unfortunate waste organization.”
Biswajit Chowdhury, an authority of the Patenga Weather Observatory Center, expressed, “Moderate to light rains are probably going to happen in the port city in the following 24 hours. In 24 hours till 9am, the Met office recorded 6mm of precipitation.”
Soibal Das, the councilor of Jamalkhan ward of the city, said “a venture is being executed to end the waterlogging issues in the city for the last time”.
