MONTERE, MEXICO – Cristina Granados has scored two goals and Costa Rica is close to qualifying for the 2023 Women’s World Cup with a 4-0 win over Trinidad Tobago in the CONCACAF W Championship on Friday night.
Costa Rica needed Canada to secure a place in the second World Cup to win the second half of the match against Panama in the second half. Rusticus also participated in the 2015 World Cup.
Granados put Costa Rica ahead with a goal in the 17th minute. Granados doubled their own lead on the 33rd before scoring the second goal just before half-time. Katherine Alblard scored in 48th place.
Trinidad and Tobago were injured when KD Johnson issued his second yellow card in the 22nd minute. Estadi Canada can qualify for the World Cup by beating Panama at the University.
The United States competed the day before the World Cup, beating Jamaica 5-0 and Haiti host Mexico 3-0. In
The eight teams in the W Championship have been divided into two groups.
The best two players from each group will compete in the World Championships. The 3rd place team will go to the intercontinental playoffs in February. The winner of the W Championship also earns a spot at the 2024 Olympics in France.
