The two-day D-8 CCI Business Forum and Expo 2022 will be held in the capital on July 26-27 to mark its silver jubilee anniversary. The announcement was made at a press conference held at a hotel in the capital today where D-8 CCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim, D-8 CCI Secretary General Ashraful Haque Chowdhury and FBCCI Director Sujib Ranjan Das were present.
They discussed the agenda of the event to be held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka and expectations from the upcoming event, a press release said. This year’s D-8 CCI Business Forum and Expo 2022, organized by the D-8 Chamber of Commerce and Industries (D-8 CCI), will explore the possibilities of building value chain integration between Bangladesh and seven other member countries. The six broad areas of the value chain that will be discussed are commodities such as minerals and energy; labour-intensive products such as textiles, clothing, light engineering and leather goods; labour-intensive services such as transport, agriculture hospitality, healthcare, human resource development; regional processing such as agriculture, aquaculture, livestock; knowledge-intensive products such as electronic components, semiconductors, cyber security equipment and components, logistics and transportation equipment; and knowledge-intensive services such as professional services in ICT, enabling technology across economic sectors, 4IR, robotics, AI, IOT, cyber securities, efficiency and R&D. And in response to the risk, the D-8 CCI is working on a strategic roadmap, to approve PTA and engage in value chain integration across agriculture, manufacturing, Tertiary and Quaternary Sector. The roadmap and its strategies will be discussed in the General Assembly on the first day of the event, submitted to the Council of Ministers on the second day and proposed to each country’s Ministry of Trade and Commerce after the event.
The 2-day D-8 CCI Business Forum and Expo 2022 will be attended by Chamber of Commerce chairmen and delegations as well as representatives from Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey. .. above all senior officials and business leaders of member countries.

On the 25th anniversary of the D-8, Fahim expressed hope that the D-8 CCI Business Forum and Expo 2022 will create new possibilities to build trade relations and create new business opportunities among the D-8 member countries. “Through this collaborative platform, we hope to pave the way that enables the esteemed D-8 member countries to grow their respective economies in a collaborative manner,” he added.
