TE24 Sports Desk:
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has said allrounder Shakib Al Hasan, who recovered from Covid, is set to join the home team to play first Test against Sri Lanka beginning on Sunday.
Shakib has tried negative under seven days in the wake of being tried positive.
Be that as it may, Russell Domingo, the lead trainer of Bangladesh, said he isn’t willing to incorporate an unsuitable Shakib.
“Coming straight into a Test match (is intense),” he said on Friday while tending to the media in Chattogram. “We really want to actually take a look at his wellness and evaluate where he is. He has recently fallen off Covid, and he hasn’t played a lot of cricket. He’s clearly a major player for us, and balances the group. Yet, we want to perceive how he is tomorrow. He hasn’t batted or bowled for the last a little while. It is five days of cricket. It is hot (here in Chattogram). There are a wide range of interesting points.”
This series is a piece of the continuous pattern of the ICC World Test Championship where Bangladesh played six matches and won only one against New Zealand recently. Bangladesh disappointed in the past cycle, so they are anxious to demonstrate their Test aptitude in this series.
The strain is high after their 2-0 loss in the last series against South Africa which carried an inquiry to the front — Is Bangladesh’s success in New Zealand an accident? The Bangladesh group needs to concoct a response, and the SriLanka series is an ideal opportunity for them.
Also, Shakib could assume an essential part in this test, however, the lead trainer said: “Anyone would need a completely fit Shakib in your best XI. It is undeniably challenging to play assuming he is 50-60 fit.”
If Bangladesh have any desire to make this series a fruitful trip, they need to demonstrate that they are adequately fit to take each of the 20 wickets of Sri Lanka who are furnished for certain carefully prepared entertainers like Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal. Bangladesh mentor said he is certain with his bowling assault.
“I just let the bowlers know today that we got 36 wickets in two Tests in South Africa. I don’t think Bangladesh has got that numerous wickets (in a series),” Domingo said. “We are sure that we can take 20 wickets. We want to have five bowling choices. We have been short in that specific area when Shakib doesn’t play. Somebody who can bowl those 12-13 overs every day, which is so significant.”
Assuming that Bangladesh needs to play without Shakib in Chattogram, Mosaddek Hossian Saikat may be an option in contrast to one side gave allrounder as Domingo needs somebody who can bowl a couple of overs when the group needs.
“He is certainly in thought to play in the event that Shakib isn’t playing,” Domingo said when he was inquired as to whether he thinks about Mosaddek as an option in contrast to Shakib.
“I think we want to consider somebody who can bowl. Yasir (Ali) has played a few great innings for us, however we really want to find somebody who can bowl 10-15 overs. I don’t know whether Mominul is certain of bowling 10-15 overs. (Nazmul Hossain) Shanto isn’t exactly there to bowl 6-7 overs per day. We really want to find that individual when Shakib isn’t there. Whenever he is there, it’s simple. In any case, he has not been there much.”
