SYDNEY – Climate change protesters marched in Sydney on Monday (June 27th) to block important roads in the center as morning traffic was disrupted across the milestone Sydney Harbor Bridge when a woman tied herself to her car.
Eleven people were detained, including police who said he had a bicycle lock around his neck and a car’s guiding wheel that blocked all city-bound routes. The car has since been removed.
The blockade caused many people in Australia, an environmental extremist gathering, to cross significant roads causing top-hour traffic chaos for drivers and pedestrians.
The TV film has seen some people throwing rubbish, development blockades and milk cartons.
Playing drums and reciting “Australia’s environmental extinction stops here”, non-conformists hold to standards with trademarks including “Upset Sydney” and “Opposition to Environmental Inactivity”. Police assessed about 60 people were important for dissent.
Barricade Australia said the meeting was due to “Australia’s obstruction of environmental activity”. The fight will continue throughout the week, the coordinators said on Twitter.
Climate change is a contentious issue in Australia, which is the world’s largest producer of carbon for every head and the world’s top exporter of coal and molten gas.
Under another labor government, Australia raised earlier this month how much it plans to reduce its fossil fuel bypoll by 2030, further aligning the country with the responsibilities of the Paris Environment Treaty of other fostered economies.
Environmentalists say global warming is likely to exacerbate severe weather conditions in Australia, which has seen shrub fires and flooding in recent years.
