The start of the World Cup 2026 begins decisively on Thursday, as football fans across Canada, Mexico and the United States realize that their urban communities have been asked for a 48-group tournament.
Four years after FIFA selected the tri-nation, North American bidder, the governing body of world football, will announce the host urban communities after being caught up in the mystery of an extended cycle.
According to FIFA, 22 host urban communities are still running this week, with many expecting the United States to see 10 of its competitors selected in the dispute with Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto to the north.
