With the spread of new infections in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe, the total number of cases of covid now exceeds 557 million.
As of Thursday morning, the total number of cases had risen to 557,522,144 and the number of deaths from the virus had reached 6,366,784, according to the latest global data.
The United States has so far registered 89,930,463 cases and data show that 1,044,557 people have died from the virus in the country. According to data released by the Federal Ministry of Health on Wednesday, 16,159 new Covid-19 cases have been reported in India in 24 hours, bringing the total to 43,547,809. The ministry added that a total of 454,465 Covid-19s were tested nationwide in 24 hours.
