NEW DELHI – Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) was unexpectedly removed from the India-specific GooglePlay and Apple AppStore on Thursday. The game was launched last year after the previous version of PUBG Mobile 2020 was banned by the Indian government due to security concerns.
Soon after the news broke, BGMI fans across the country were outraged by the lack of explanation for its disappearance, with most players believing it was due to a technical glitch.
However, it is unclear whether the game is currently banned in the country or has been removed for violating App Store guidelines. Meanwhile, PUBG New State, developed by BGMI creator Krafton, is available for download from both GooglePlay and the Apple AppStore.
Meanwhile, a company representative told India Today Tech: Fueling speculation of a Google Play Store ban, there was no official confirmation that the game was restricted in any way.
However, the player will have to wait for a few hours to get more details on the issue.
