The Japanese Embassy in Dhaka celebrated its 50th anniversary on Thursday. Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen attended the ceremony.
Shortly after independence, on 10 February 1972, Japan recognized Bangladesh as a sovereign state. The country opened its embassy in Dhaka on 1 July 1972.
Japan’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki praised the unfamiliar clergyman at the Institute of Modern Languages and the Japanese Language and Culture Program of the Department of Japanese Studies at Dhaka University in recognition of Matiur Rahman’s huge commitment to building the foundation. Ambassador Naoki handed over certificates of appreciation to NGO Ekmatra, Japanese music group Bajina Beat and Tanaka Chizuru, owner of Japanese Cafe Nagasaki in Uttara, Dhaka.
Diplomat Naoki expressed his sincere gratitude for their extraordinary commitment to further the incredible kinship between Bangladesh and Japan.
