Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh will overcome the challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the war between Russia and Ukraine. He asked the government officials to have courage to face any situation.
The Prime Minister was officiating at a function for the 2022 Bangabandhu Administration Award commemorating the National Public Service Day on Saturday. He virtually participated in the function from his official residence Ganababan at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium. The Prime Minister said that we ourselves have taken up the challenge of constructing the Padma Bridge and successfully implemented it.
He continued. “Currently, the whole world has suspended the war between Russia and Ukraine and financial transactions between the United States and Russia via SWIFT.” Developed countries are also victims of this (decision). “Oil and fuel have stopped. The world is in an intolerable situation.”
The prime minister reiterated calls for lifting sanctions on Russia, saying the idea of teaching a country a lesson by imposing sanctions is painful. Due to the Russia-Ukraine war and the sanctions imposed on Russia, inflation has increased in Bangladesh and has multiplied in developed countries like America and England. As global energy prices skyrocket due to war, their people are being asked to save energy and power.
“We have to be frugal and pay special attention to avoid any unnecessary expenses,” he added. The Prime Minister said that Bangladesh should bravely overcome the global situation by facing the wholesale criticism of the media and some people without understanding the real situation of the world. However, he advises to take into account the criticisms, which show the government its flaws. .He added:
“We should have confidence that we are on the right path, performing the right duties and taking the right decisions (to face the situation).” The Prime Minister urged public servants not to be distracted by criticism. Rather, they should have faith in their own abilities to face any challenge.
“There is nothing to worry about, so everyone should be careful not to get discouraged. We have to move forward to face any situation,” he said. The Prime Minister said that the situation of Bangladesh is relatively better than other countries of the world for the efficient work of government officials.
Sheikh Hasina urged government officials to deliver public services at the doorsteps of the people and give them full support as the constitution empowers them as land owners. “They are all paid from the taxes paid by the people and profit. All your comforts and luxuries come from their money. Therefore, they must work for their own benefit and well-being. To be,” he said.
He said that due to the timely and effective actions of his government, the socio-economic development of Bangladesh is taking place despite the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war. Government Service Day is celebrated on July 23 every year in Bangladesh. Public Administration Award has been introduced since 2016.
From this year the award was named “Bangabandhu Public Administration Award”. The award is conferred under the Department of General Administration and Management, Development Administration and Reforms (Administration for) by Ministry of External Affairs (MoFA), Ministry of Water Resources and Ministry of Lands. Establishment of Land Information Database respectively in recognition of their significant contribution.
Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Dr. Ahmad Kaykaus, Senior Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Department NM Ziaul Alam, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka District Shahidul Islam and Security Unit of ICT Directorate received the medal as a team under the innovative category in public service.
Development of a Covid-19 vaccine management system. Each of the awardees will get a gold medal, certificate of appreciation, two lakh rupees for individual contribution and five lakh rupees for team contribution. On behalf of the Prime Minister, the Minister for Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Haque, MP. , presented the awards to the recipients.
