Kim Kardashian did not damage Marilyn Monroe’s outfit at the Met Gala in New York, the gallery in which it is located, said on Thursday, after fans tore the outfit.
Kardashian knocked some people’s socks off last month when she showed up at the occasion in the skin-tight dress the screen alarm wore to entertain then-president John F. Kennedy on his birthday in 1962.
However, a Monroe memorabilia gatherer grumbled for the current week the dress had been torn, and distributed what he expressed were when pictures showing missing gems and tears by its clasp.
Los Angeles-based gallery Ripley’s Believe It or Not! pushed back Thursday, saying the truth star-turned-business person had not transformed the outfit.
“Kim Kardashian wearing the ‘Blissful Birthday’ dress has been highly controversial, yet the reality stays that she didn’t, in any capacity, harm the piece of clothing in the short measure of time it was worn at the Met Gala,” the gallery said on its site.
“From the lower part of the Met advances, where Kim got into the dress, to the top where it was returned, the dress was in a similar condition it began in,” said Amanda Joiner, Ripley’s Vice President of Publishing and Licensing, who cared for the dress on the day.
The gallery purchased the dress at sell off in 2016 for $4.8 million.
A report on its condition written in 2017 says: “some of the creases are pulled and worn. This isn’t shocking given the way that sensitive the material is.”
Around then there was at that point “puckering at the back by the snares and eyes,” the exhibition hall’s site said.
Kardashian, who supposedly started an eating routine to have the option to fit into the dress, has offered no open remark on the debate.
