The Group of Seven condemned the execution of four democratization activists in Myanmar on Thursday and called on ruling party forces to “refrain from further arbitrary executions” and release all political prisoners.
“This execution is the first in Myanmar for more than 30 years, and the lack of a fair trial demonstrates the junta’s contempt for the strong democratic aspirations of the Myanmar people,” said a joint G7 foreign ministers’ statement released by the British government.
We strongly condemn the military coup in Myanmar and express deep concern about the political, economic, social, humanitarian and human rights situation in the country.”
