TE24 International Desk:
LONDON – The new British prime minister, who will retire to replace Boris Johnson, was announced on 5 September and the ruling Conservative Party announced on Monday that 11 applicants are currently waiting for the job.
The leadership rivalry erupted last week when Johnson, 58, was forced to resign from the government in protest of the scandal-ridden Premier League after being more than 50 times enthusiastic about his resignation.
The influential 1922 parliamentary non-ministerial Tory parliamentary committee on Monday outlined the party leader election schedule. The 4,444 nominations will officially open and close on Tuesday, and a new prime minister will take office on September 5 after Congress returns from summer vacation. In 1922, the chairman of the commission, Graham Brady, told reporters.
Tory lawmakers reduced their current list to the last two by a series of votes, before party members picked the winner, excluding the worst-performing candidates after each round.
The number could soon be reduced to two to prevent Johnson from leaving Downing Street as soon as possible and dragging the trial into the MP’s summer vacation.
Bob Blackman, deputy secretary-general of the 922 Commission, said he needed to do so before the July 21 congressional summer recess.
He told Brady that the first vote could be on Wednesday and the second on Thursday. To speed up
In the process, candidates must be at least 20 MPs behind instead of the usual 8 votes, eliminating candidates who did not get 30 MP support in the first vote.
The candidates are Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid. They made a wave of resignations by resigning the finance minister and the health minister.
Secretary of State Liz Truss and Snack’s successor Nadeem Zahui also issued a statement saying Home Minister Preity Patel was considering the proposal.
However, a survey of grassroots members of the influential website Conservative Home, published Monday, shows that former Secretary of Defense Penny Mordant Ark is slightly ahead of conservative Chemi Badenko, a lesser-known candidate. We have proven that we strongly support it.
Brexit front runner Johnson dramatically announced his resignation as leader last Thursday, but will remain on Downing Street until he is replaced.
Javid said more “skills” were needed to lead Britain because it faced rising cost of living, rising energy prices and the war in Ukraine.
“We hope this campaign will be a necessary turning point for us,” he said at the start of the campaign.
-Shame-
During a visit to the Institute of Science in London, Johnson was directly asked if he would assist any of the candidates. Six of them are blacks and ethnic minorities.
“At this stage, the prime minister’s job is to let the team make decisions, let them move forward and continue the projects we have chosen,” he said. Its fall
Johnson was spectacular out of shame. In December 2019, he won an 80-seat landslide victory with a promise to leave Britain from the European Union. Although the majority
Parliament allowed him to do so, his tenure as prime minister hit a wave of scandals, and he was fined by the police, especially for the party that broke the blockade on Downing Street.
Last week, another line exploded over the appointment of his senior colleague, calling on the government to resign despite being aware of allegations of sexual harassment against him.
In his speech, he accused “Pal” of conspiring against him and his allies were angry over the snacks. Johnson, however, declined to say on Monday whether he felt stupid.
“I don’t want to say anything more,” he said. “Competition is happening and happening. You know I don’t want to waste opportunities with support.
“I just have to keep going and here day or week … the prime minister’s constitutional role in this situation is to continue his duty. And that’s exactly what I’m doing,” he added. The more we focus on those who vote for us … (and) the less we talk about Westminster politics, the happier we will be.
