TE24 Sports Desk:
Pace bowler Naseem Shah and leg-spinner Yasir Shah claimed three wickets each as Pakistan thrashed Sri Lanka by 378 runs on the second day of the second Test on Monday.
Sri Lanka continued to target 315-6 in former captain Angelo Mathews’ 100th Test, and Naseem sent him back for 51 before wicket-keeper batsman Niro Shandi Koela added nine to his overnight total.
Naseem struck twice in the opening session and quickly returned to 3-58. On his debut his guards saw a left-hander in Dunith Wellagh caught at second slip for 11 runs as the ball stole his gloves.
Ramesh Mendis made a useful cameo from 35 before being bowled by Yasir, who stole two wickets to end Sri Lanka’s innings in the morning session. The
Openers Oshada Fernando (50), Dinesh Kandimar (80) and Mathews (42) will take the field on Sunday after the hosts, trailing 1-0 in the two-match series, opted to bat first. I shot an important shot.
A fourth-wicket stand of 75 between the openers, Kandy Marr and Mathews followed with a 92-run stand that laid the foundation for the expected pitch total from day three.
