A brilliant all-round display from Hardik Pandya and a stunning 1st century in 50-over cricket from Reshab Pant helped India beat England by 5 wickets in their third and final ODI to take the three-match series 2 – 1 at Old Trafford this Sunday.
All-rounder Haldik Pandya (4/24) and leg-spinner Yuju Bendra Chahar (3/60) helped India bowl out England for 259 in 45.5 overs.
Captain Jos Buttler played a crucial bat (80-60) for England, who was invited to bat first by Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Apart from Buttler, the other key players with the host bat are Jason Roy (41), Moeen Ali (34) and Craig Overton (32). Apart from Pandya and Chahar, the other wickets for India were Mohammad Shirazi (2/66) and Ravindra Jadeja (1/21).
Chasing a challenging total, India were 72-over 16.2 after losing Shikhar Dhawan (1), Rohit Sharma (17), Virat Kohli (17) and Surya Kumar Yadav (16). I had 4 serious problems.
However, Hardik and Pant attacked smartly, finding boundaries regularly and stitching a 133-run streak to win the match. Pandya (71 off 55) fell in 36 innings as India needed 55 runs.
