TE24 Sports Desk:
Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to leave the Premier League club at the end of the season due to his desire to play in the Champions League, the Times reported on Saturday (July 2).
United’s Ronaldo’s future has been the subject of speculation following a trophy-less campaign and their failure to qualify for the Champions League last season, although incoming manager Eric Ten Hague said the Portuguese international was part of his plan.
The report added that he believes the 37-year-old still has “three out of four years” to play at the elite level.
Ronaldo returned to United from Juventus in August 2021 and scored 24 goals in all tournaments, one of the few glorious places for Ralph Rangnik’s side last season.
The former Real Madrid striker has recently been linked with a move to Chelsea following a one-year deal at Old Trafford.
