Olivia Newton-John, who won worldwide acclaim for her starring role in Greece, died Monday morning at the age of 73, according to her family.
The actress “has been a symbol of victory and a symbol of hope for more than 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer,” the family said in a statement.
Her Australian-born singer had a string of hits in the 1970s, but she also featured on the soundtrack to several hit singles, as well as John Hernandez’s Grease. She rose to fame playing Sandy opposite Travolta.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Chloe, an older sister and a younger brother, and several nieces and nephews.
