After a long break from Hollywood, David O. Russell is back with his new project starring almost half of Hollywood’s A Lister. The crime drama titled Amsterdam will star Christian Bale alongside Margot Robbie and John David Washington. Other notable names include Robert De Niro, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Mike Myers, Rami Malek, Zoe Cerdanya and Taylor Swift.
The official overview of the film states, “The film, set in the 1930s, witnessed a murder, became a suspect, and revealed one of the most outrageous plots in American history.
This is Russell’s first film starring Jennifer Lawrence, after “Win” in 2015, to be released in November. Shortly after the movie was released, a report was published about its reputation as extremely difficult to manage. At the same time, on the set of I Heart Huckabees (2004), a viral video of director Lily Tomlin shouting defamatory words was published online.
There was also a report from a director who made Amy Adams cry on the American hostel set. Russell has a history of problematic behavior, one of which is accused
Russell named him after the release of the 2012 Silver Linings Playbook starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. The film was the first to be nominated for four Oscar acting categories since the Reds in 1981, and Lawrence won the Leading Actress Award.
The 63-year-old director worked with Christian Bale after working with The Fighter in 2010, following the release of American Hustle in 2013. In the same year, American Hustle was able to win 10 nominations at the 86th Academy Awards, alongside Gravity.
But back in Amsterdam, the director seems to be aiming for another Oscar, given the timing of the release and the All Star Cast. Anyway, there was a consensus on the trailer here.
